On January 13, 1989, the Arkansas Nonpublic School Accrediting Association Inc., received its Certificate of Incorporation from the State of Arkansas, as a nonprofit educational organization.
History
In 1984, the Arkansas Department of Education published new education standards to be implemented by 1987. Prior to 1987, all schools in Arkansas (public and nonpublic) were accredited under the same standards. The new standards included only the public schools.
During the fall of 1988, a group of nonpublic school administrators made application to establish an accrediting association for nonpublic schools. On January 13, 1989, the Arkansas Nonpublic School Accrediting Association Inc., received its Certificate of Incorporation from the State of Arkansas, as a nonprofit educational organization.
On November 13, 1989, the Arkansas Nonpublic School State Accrediting Association, Inc., received official affiliation as a chapter in the National Federation on Nonpublic School State Accrediting Associations, approved by the U.S. Office of Education and CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education).
ANSAA is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization (IRS). All member schools must qualify for this same exempt status.
